Vice President Dan Quayle publicly criticised Tupac’s lyrics after Ronald Howard, who shot a Texas state trooper, had a copy of 2Pacalypse Now in his car.

Quayle made the statement, “There’s no reason for a record like this to be released. It has no place in our society,” provoking journalist Marcus Leshock to years later as, “was it really the record that Dan Quayle thought had no place in our society, or was it Tupac?”
